🌱 Imbolc: Awakening with Nature! 🌱

On February 2, we celebrate the next festival of the Wheel of the YearImbolc, marking the transition from winter’s slumber to spring’s awakening. The name “Imbolc” comes from the word “milk”, symbolizing the time when lambs are born, and ewes begin producing milk to nurture their young.

This festival resonates across many cultures. Among the Slavic tribes, Gromnitsa was celebrated around this time, signifying the beginning of the spring period. Today, Imbolc is partly known as St. Brigid’s Day, a legacy of the Catholic Church, which transformed the Irish goddess Brigid into a saint.

Imbolc is a time of milk and fire, a period of cleansing the snowy layer under which we’ve slumbered throughout winter. It signals the awakening of the earth’s potential, the start of life and creation that will soon flourish before our eyes. During this time, the Great Goddess feeds her son, the Sun, with milk, helping him grow stronger every day—just as the length of daylight increases for us.
