With Samhain, the dark time of year has begun. As the Moon wanes, we approach the darkest New Moon of the year. There is less and less light outside, and when the clocks are set back to winter time, darkness falls as early as five in the evening. It takes more focus and energy now to maintain a bright state of mind.

During such periods, it’s especially helpful to anchor yourself in positive moments, events, and impressions — so you don’t drown in the approaching dark waters. For even in the most ordinary, routine day, there is always something pleasant, joyful, or at least useful to be found.

Here’s a beautiful practice: write down these bright moments on small colored notes and place them in a clear glass jar. When you feel overwhelmed or low, you can look at your “jar of light” and see proof that there is color and brightness in your life.

❤️ Join in this practice — collect these daily joys. You can even keep them in your blog if you prefer. They can be anything: a favorite cup of coffee, a stunning autumn view from the window, a cozy family evening, or a long-awaited purchase.

Let there be more warmth and light in this dark season of the year!

With love,
