In Gypsy magic, working with the Moon is of great importance, and many spells and rituals are based on appeals to the Moon-Gaena, using lunar energy flows for their processes. For the new lunar month, I present to you my Lunar Story.

My conversation with the Moon will allow you to hear ancient stories from Gypsy shuwanis and introduce you to the trends of the upcoming lunar month. Listen carefully, feel deeply… the Moon is speaking to you.

Shuwany sat waiting for the Moon in her usual place, gazing up at the night sky. August nights are warm and velvety, sprinkled with the sparks of falling stars, as if they were created especially for making wishes and dreaming.

— What do you think, — a voice suddenly sounded in the silence, and Shuwany, coming out of her dreamy reverie, realized that the Moon had already risen and had been watching her for some time. — What do you think people wish for when they look at falling stars? — the Moon asked.

— I think they wish for whatever will make them happy. Or whatever they believe is supposed to make them happy, — Shuwany replied.

— But those things are not always the same, — the Moon observed. — Here, listen…

🌟 Once upon a time, in a time beyond memory, there lived a prince.

All his subjects loved him dearly, and there was not a single one among them who did not envy him at least a little. The prince was young and handsome, rich and intelligent. He was blessed with excellent health, was courageous and a valiant warrior, and, besides all that, had a kind heart and many talents. And, of course, he was famous and powerful, for he was, after all, a prince.

Everyone around him considered him a perfectly happy man. And really, what more could anyone possibly want from life?

But the prince thought otherwise.

No matter whom he shared his thoughts with, no one could understand him. His father, the ruler, would say, “Your destiny and your happiness are to become a good ruler. Forget these foolish ideas!”

His mother would say, “Get married, start a family, and you will be happy. All these silly thoughts that trouble you will simply fade away.”

His friends merely shrugged. “What more could you possibly want? Just live and enjoy yourself!”

As for everyone else, the prince did not even speak to them about happiness. How could he expect complete strangers to understand him when even those closest to him could not?

Time passed, but thoughts of happiness would not leave the prince alone. And one fine day, he finally decided to set out in search of it.

He gave the right to inherit his father’s throne to his younger brother, took only as many belongings as he could carry himself, left behind his magnificent palaces, servants, and luxurious life, and, frightened though he was, ventured into the unknown.

Do not believe those who say that all you have to do is leave your familiar surroundings behind and you will immediately find yourself in a beautiful and wondrous land where every dream comes true and sorrow does not exist.

It is nothing like that!

For the prince, the journey was extremely difficult. On the very first day, he became exhausted, hurt his feet on the stones along the road, grew hungry, and by evening was shivering with cold. But the palaces and servants were already far behind him, and the prince absolutely refused to turn back.

There were many more days like that, and some were even worse.

The prince experienced hunger and cold. He had to work hard to earn his food. And there were moments — I will not deceive you — when he doubted whether his decision had been the right one. A couple of times, he even bitterly regretted it.

But the moments of weakness passed. The sun rose again the next morning, and the prince continued on his way.

A great deal of time passed.

The prince traveled very far from his homeland. He saw many lands, wore out many pairs of shoes, and went through countless hardships, dangers, and trials. But he also saw many astonishing and extraordinary things — things he had never even heard of before.

And most importantly, one completely ordinary day, no different from any other, he finally found his happiness.

The story does not say exactly what that happiness was. We only know that it was real.

The prince was no longer so young, nor so handsome — his trials had left their mark. He was certainly no longer as rich, famous, or universally loved.

By then, he was probably almost indistinguishable from the thousands of ordinary people who had once envied him.

But he was absolutely happy!

So happy that it seemed his heart could hardly contain all the happiness he felt.

And as he sat by the sea with his happiness beside him, he thought that if there was ever a moment when he could truly be envied, it was this one. 🌟

— This happens so often, — the Moon said. — People envy those who are richer or more beautiful, who possess power or talent, thinking that such a person must surely be happier.

But in reality, only the person who has found their own happiness — even if they are not rich, young, beautiful, or famous — is truly worthy of envy. And far more so than all the princes in the world put together!
