In Gypsy magic, working with the Moon is of great importance, and many spells and rituals are based on appeals to the Moon-Gaena, using lunar energy flows for their processes. For the new lunar month, I present to you my Lunar Story.

My conversation with the Moon will allow you to hear ancient stories from Gypsy shuwanis and introduce you to the trends of the upcoming lunar month. Listen carefully, feel deeply… the Moon is speaking to you.

The winter night forest was unwelcoming; darkness and cold filled it to the brim. Shuwany wrapped herself tightly, shivering as she searched for the Moon. Fortunately, the Moon did not keep her waiting long.

“Winter cold is an unpleasant thing,” Shuwany remarked after greeting her. “But it’s enough to dress warmer or sit by the fire to overcome it. It’s harder with life’s troubles and problems… If only they could be dealt with just as easily!”

“You’re right,” the Moon agreed. “It’s not that simple. However… listen to this!”

🌿 In one garden, there once grew a little tree.

It was springtime, the sun warmed the earth gently, and the tree’s branches were covered with its first tender leaves. The whole world seemed beautiful and filled with joy. Then came the season of blossoming: delicate flowers opened on its slender branches for the very first time — soft, beautiful, with a wondrous fragrance. The young tree felt like the happiest in the world!

But not many days passed before the marvelous blossoms began to fade. Their petals fell to the ground, helplessly losing their charm. The tree tried with all its might to keep the flowers, but of course it could not, and soon they all withered. Oh, how saddened the little tree was! “Why is life so cruel?” it thought bitterly. “I was given only a brief moment of joy, and now it’s all over — there is no more happiness left in my life!” Lost in such sorrowful thoughts, the tree failed to notice the beautiful summer days and the tiny fruit buds that had appeared where the flowers once were.

Time passed, and one day the tree finally noticed the strange little shapes on its branches. When it realized they were fruits, it was overjoyed! Life was once again filled with meaning and happiness. Each day it nourished the small fruits, shielded them from the scorching sun, and hid them in its leaves from birds. Day by day, the fruits grew larger and more beautiful.

At last, they ripened — so lovely, fragrant, and magnificent that they stirred envy in all the neighboring trees. The little tree felt immense pride — in its fruits and in itself. It even seemed to grow taller from that pride! And it grew even prouder when people came one day, admired the fruits, and praised the young tree. But then — oh, horror! — they picked the fruits and carried them away.

Once again, the tree fell into sadness. It grieved so deeply that its leaves lost their greenness and freshness. It mourned until one day a painter arrived. He was so enchanted by the tree wrapped in a cloud of golden leaves that he immediately began to paint it. Realizing it was beautiful, the tree lifted its spirit once more and felt happy again.

Yet this season did not last long either. Autumn rains poured down, the golden leaves faded, and cold, harsh winds tore them from the branches and carried them away. Needless to say, the tree was distressed. So much so that it did not wish to see the light of day at all. Refusing to look at the bleak picture of late autumn and convinced its life was over forever, the tree drifted into oblivion.

The cold grew stronger, snow fell — none of this did the sleeping tree see. And when it finally awoke, it discovered warm, gentle sunlight, tender young leaves on its branches, and buds ready to bloom once again. 🌿

“So it is with people,” the Moon said. “A person often mistakes a turning point for a collapse, when in truth it is only a new spiral of growth. Giving in to despair, they fail to see that it is not the end, but the beginning of something different — perhaps far more beautiful. In the endless cycle of time, each season carries its own special joy and its own unique gifts.”
