The September Full Moon is known as the Harvest Moon, the Harvest Moon, and in some traditions, the Wine Moon. It is a time when nature gives us its fruits, and we pause to give thanks for what we have received and prepare to enter the darker part of the year.
This year, the Full Moon is especially closely connected with Mabon, arriving just a few days after the Autumn Equinox. Its energies therefore bring together themes of gratitude, maturity, completion, and transition into a new stage.
🍇 Symbolism of This Moon
The Wine and Harvest Moon invites us to look back at the path we have travelled and recognize how much of what was once only an intention has gradually become part of our reality. Knowledge has become experience, effort has become results, and small daily actions have led to something that can now be seen and felt.
This is why it is especially important now not to constantly search for something new, but to turn our attention to what we already have. If throughout the year you have been learning, developing your abilities, exploring magical practices, or working toward a particular goal, the time has come to allow this knowledge to manifest in your life.
The September Moon also supports bringing things that have been started to completion. Some matters require one final effort before they can finally bear fruit, while others can now be released to make room for the next turn of the cycle.
And, of course, the energy of the Moon itself has a special place here. The Full Moon has traditionally been associated with heightened intuition, inner knowledge, and the ability to perceive what usually remains beyond rational awareness. In the tradition of Esbats, this is a time to connect with the Moon through ritual and divination, while in Wiccan tradition, it is a time to connect with the Goddess in her mature, maternal aspect, associated with fertility, protection, creation, and wisdom.
🧙 Magical Actions and Practices
The September Esbat is well suited for consolidating results, working with prosperity, and strengthening magical abilities. You can perform rituals for wellbeing and preserving what you have achieved, work with money talismans, candles, and amulets, and charge magical tools with lunar energy. It is also a good time to make moon water and later use it in rituals, cleansing, or consecrating objects.
Divination holds a special place in lunar practices. Tarot, runes, oracles, or any other system familiar to you can help you look at the cycle that has come to an end, understand the meaning of what has happened, and see the direction of your further movement. You can ask not only about the future, but also about the present: what needs your attention now, which abilities are ready to be used, where your strength lies, and what is important to understand before entering a new stage.
For this Full Moon, I have prepared a special Tarot spread, “The Wine Moon” — about what has already ripened in your life, what your accumulated experience has become, and what it is time to accept.
It is also a good time to work with dreams, meditate under the Moon, and practice developing sensitivity and inner knowing. You can devote some quiet time to yourself without trying to get an answer immediately — on this night, you may not even need to ask a specific question, but simply give yourself the opportunity to listen.
For your altar, you can choose seasonal fruits, grapes, grain, bread, or wine and use them to express gratitude for everything that has supported you throughout the year. This simple practice can help you feel the connection between your efforts, the opportunities you have received, and the fruits that come into your life in their own time.
🌻 The Main Meaning of the Moon
Every season has its own rhythm: a time to sow, a time to grow, and a time to harvest. Not everything in life requires constant movement and new effort. Sometimes the most important step is to stop and acknowledge the value of what has already been created.
The September Moon reminds us that we have the right to receive, accept, and enjoy what has come to fruition. Not to diminish what we have done, not to immediately turn every result into another task, but to allow ourselves simply to stay in this moment and feel it.
And then — calmly look ahead. Just as the earth is not left empty after the harvest, but preserves the seeds of the future, so every completed stage of our lives leaves behind experience, strength, and opportunities for new growth.
🌀 Full Moon Spell
O Moon of Wine and Harvest,
Bless my deeds, my work, and their fruits.
Help me see and accept all that has ripened in my life,
And wisely use the knowledge and experience I have gathered.
May my magical workings be successful,
My intuition clear,
My divinations true,
And my dreams prophetic.
May the power of the Moon strengthen my feminine power,
And open the way to prosperity, wellbeing, and new opportunities.
With gratitude, I accept the fruits of my labour,
And open myself to a new cycle.
So mote it be!
